General Summary:

The Outside Sales Representative – Network Cabling & IT Services role is an ambitious and results-driven position focused exclusively on new business acquisition within the private sector. This is a 100% hunter role with a primary emphasis on network cabling and network management services, while also enabling cross-sell of the company’s full portfolio of IT solutions. The successful candidate will generate their own leads through networking, referrals, cold-calling, sales intelligence and prospecting tools, and industry events, with limited lead support from marketing. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-energy environment, is motivated by uncapped earning potential, and is excited to drive growth by winning new private sector clients.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prospecting and Lead Generation: Independently source and qualify new business leads through outbound efforts (cold-calling, networking, referrals, industry events, etc.), with minimal lead support from marketing. Leverage sales intelligence and prospecting tools to broaden reach to targeted private sector clients.
  • Sales Strategy Execution: Develop and execute a strategic plan to target and win new network cabling and network management opportunities, while positioning the full portfolio of IT services when appropriate.
  • Pipeline Management: Build, manage, and close a robust pipeline of opportunities in the private sector. Accurately forecast sales activity and revenue targets.
  • Consultative Selling: Engage prospects to understand their infrastructure challenges, present tailored network solutions, and establish value based on customer needs.
  • Presentation and Proposal Development: Deliver compelling presentations and proposals that address client requirements and highlight the benefits of network cabling, network management, and broader portfolio services.
  • Contract Negotiation and Closing: Negotiate terms and close new business deals with private sector organizations.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay up-to-date on trends in structured cabling, networking technologies, and broader IT services, as well as competitor offerings, to effectively position our solutions.
  • Reporting and CRM: Maintain accurate records of sales activity and pipeline status in the CRM system. Provide regular updates to leadership on progress toward sales targets.
  • Field Engagement: Maintain a strong daily presence in the field by visiting prospective client sites, building relationships face-to-face, and driving new business opportunities through in-person interactions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong prospecting and lead generation skills, with proven success in cold-calling, networking, and building relationships in the private sector.
  • Proficiency with sales intelligence and prospecting tools (e.g., LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo) to enhance lead generation.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities; able to deliver value-driven pitches that translate technical solutions into business outcomes.
  • Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized, with a proactive approach to managing the entire sales cycle from lead generation to closing.
  • Goal-oriented, competitive, and motivated by uncapped earning potential. Enjoys a fast-paced, autonomous work environment and demonstrates resilience in the face of rejection.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years in outside sales, preferably within IT services or network cabling/network infrastructure solutions, with a strong track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales quotas.

Compensation:

Salary: 70,000-90,000
